Some of life's best adventures just fall into your lap. Four months ago, I was completely content with my life in Denver. Business was busy and good and we were adjusting to the empty nest by planning a major renovation to our home of the last decade. Out of the blue I get a call from a Google recruiter about my interest to come out and join X (previously known as Google X), the R&D arm of Alphabet, as a Vice President in charge of developing communications infrastructure for the emerging world. What an incredible opportunity and even though it meant cancelling our renovation, selling our house and picking up and moving to the Bay Area, my wife was keen and we decided to take the plunge. My first day was yesterday, September 12, 2016, and after eight hours of Noogler orientation I was off to meet my new team at X. I feel a bit old and intimidated by the incredible technical talent here but am excited about the opportunity and humbled by the team. Excited to see what will happen in the months ahead! I plan to stay active in the TimesArrow portfolio and might even come across some new ideas in the heart of Silicon Valley - :-) Stay tuned!
